Terrorists Have Infiltrated 40 South-West LGAs — Gani Adams Raises Alarm Over Growing Insecurity

The Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Gani Adams, has raised fresh concerns over insecurity in the South-West, claiming that terrorists have infiltrated at least 40 local government areas across the region.

Speaking in a recent interview, Adams said the security situation in the South-West is more dangerous than many people realise.

According to him, investigations carried out by his group revealed the presence of terrorists in dozens of local governments across the region’s 137 LGAs.

“We spotted not remnants of terrorists, but a lot of terrorists in no fewer than 40 local governments,” he said.

Adams explained that his organisation initially kept its findings private, hoping to work directly with state governments to tackle the threat discreetly.

However, he expressed disappointment that governors in the region allegedly failed to engage his group despite repeated warnings over the past two years.

The Yoruba leader said all factions of the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) and other local security groups are ready to collaborate in fighting criminal activities in the South-West.

He stressed that security goes beyond weapons alone, adding that intelligence gathering, local knowledge, multilingual operatives, and even spiritual support are important in combating insecurity.

“All hands must be on deck to confront these criminals,” Adams stated.
