Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, David Adaleke, best known as Davido has announced that he is taking a break from making music.

In a now-viral clip from a livestream in Osun state, the singer responded to fans eager for new songs, saying he is currently on a “musical break”.

“Stop asking me when I am dropping chat. I’m on a musical break. If you go to the club right now, out of twenty songs, 10 na ‘baddest’. We are on a musical break,” he said.

“I am on a musical break, if you go to the clubs right now, out of 20 songs playing 10 are mine”

The 33-year-old artiste is currently in Osun to support the re-election campaign of Governor Ademola Adeleke, his uncle.

Davido was appointed in April as head of youth mobilisation for the Accord Party’s campaign council.

He joined the Accord Party following Adeleke’s defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the party.

Earlier this week, the singer inaugurated the Imole Youth Mobilisation Campaign Council to support Adeleke’s re-election bid.

“Yesterday I officially inaugurated the IMOLE YOUTH MOBILIZATION campaign council and also collected my membership card for the ACCORD PARTY in OSUN STATE for the forthcoming Gubernatorial election coming up in August. We look forward to a successful re-election for Mr Governor,” he wrote on X.

“This current administration is one that the people of OSUN love so much. As it stands now, all things being fair, it will be a walkover in Jesus name  @aadeleke_01.”
