Ogogo’s Daughter Shares Emotional Last Message With Late Actor

One of the daughters of late veteran Yoruba actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has shared an emotional exchange she had with her father weeks before his death.

Kira Taiwo posted the conversation on her Instagram Story on Monday, a day after the actor died at the age of 66.

The exchange, dated July 26, showed the actor reassuring his daughter while encouraging her to remain strong amid his health struggles.

In the messages, Ogogo told Kira that seeing her and her sisters happy gave him strength and urged her not to cry.

“How are you? I heard you are crying. Seeing you and your sisters smile is making me strong. If you cry, it will make me sad, and I will start to think,” he wrote.

The actor, who was Muslim, also encouraged his daughter to put her trust in Allah and remain hopeful.

“Be strong. I am strong. Nothing is going to happen to me, insha Allah. If you do, then don’t cry, my princess,” he added.

Kira responded by reassuring her father that she was not crying and that she remained confident in her faith.

“Daddy, I’m not crying oo… don’t mind Haleemah. I trust in Allah, sir. I love you very much,” she wrote.

Ogogo replied simply: “Love u too, my princess.”

The exchange has taken on a more poignant meaning following the actor’s death, coming weeks before his family publicly revealed the severity of his illness.

Ogogo’s daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, had earlier made emotional appeals for assistance after his health deteriorated.

Kira disclosed that the actor was battling stage-four cancer and said the hospital treating him could no longer administer chemotherapy, prompting the family to explore other treatment options.

Lima also revealed that the family only became fully aware of the seriousness of his condition about three weeks earlier, explaining that his physical appearance had initially given little indication of how ill he was.

Ogogo died at about 3pm on Sunday, according to a burial announcement shared by veteran actor Jide Kosoko.

The actor is expected to be buried in his hometown, Ilaro, Ogun State, on Monday, according to Islamic rites.

A lying-in-state ceremony is scheduled for 11am at the Pavilion in Ilaro, while the Ilaro Muslim Community announced that the burial prayer would be held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion Ground at 10am.

Ogogo was one of the prominent figures in the Yoruba film industry, building a career spanning several decades as an actor, filmmaker and director.
