Nollywood Actress Temitope Osoba To Be Buried In Ogun On Thursday

Nollywood actress and producer, Temitope Osoba, will be laid to rest in her hometown of Iperu Remo, Ogun State, on Thursday, September 10, 2026.

The burial arrangements were announced by the actress’ family in an obituary shared through her official Instagram page on Monday.

According to the family, her remains will leave the Ogun State University Teaching Hospital (OSUTH), Sagamu, at 9am for the burial ceremony.

The service is scheduled to take place between 10am and 11am at Akesan Club, opposite Iperu Morning Market, Iperu Remo.

Her interment will follow immediately at the Iperu Remo Cemetery, while mourners have been asked to wear white.

Osoba, popularly known as Tope Osoba, died in early August at the age of 40 after spending almost two decades in the Nigerian film industry.

The Yoruba-language actress and producer featured in several productions, including Oogun Mi, and was known for her work in the Yoruba film sector.

Her death came about a year after she announced that she had recovered from breast cancer and was returning to acting.

Osoba had previously spoken publicly about her battle with the disease and appealed for financial support towards her treatment and surgery.

In August 2025, she announced her recovery, describing the period as a journey of healing, rebranding and empowerment.

Controversy over circumstances of death

Questions surrounding the circumstances of Osoba’s death have persisted following conflicting accounts from her fiancé and some members of her family.

Her fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, reportedly claimed that the actress died after she was taken to a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos.

Members of her family, however, gave a different account of the events surrounding her final hours.

The conflicting claims prompted calls for further investigation, with actor Yomi Fabiyi among those who publicly advocated an autopsy to establish the circumstances surrounding her death.

The family subsequently cautioned against spreading unverified information about the actress’ demise and urged members of the public and the media to rely on statements issued through its official channels.

Osoba’s burial was initially scheduled for August 13 but was postponed indefinitely by her family.

The family has now confirmed September 10 as the new date for her final rites.
