Lagos Fire Service Rescues 84-year-old Man From Attempted Suicide

The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service has rescued an 84-year-old man from a well in Aboru community, Agbado Oke-odo Local Council Development Area of the state.

The Controller General of the agency, Margaret Adeseye, who confirmed the incident in a statement on Tuesday, January 27, 2026 said preliminary investigation suggests the man attempted su!c!de by jumping into the 140ft deep well.

According to the statement, the agency received a distress call at 10:09 am concerning the incident at No. 35A, Fadeyemi Street, Pipeline, Aboru and immediately dispatched a rescue crew to the scene.

The victim was successfully recovered by the rescue team and subsequently handed over to the family members for further necessary attention.
