Drama As Pastor Korede Reportedly Arrest Apostle Festus Over ‘Prosperity Gospel’ Criticism

Senior pastor of Word of Power Gospel Church International in Ughelli, Delta State, Apostle Festus Alilu, was arrested by the police on Thursday night after criticizing Pastor Korede Komaiya of The Master’s Place International Church.

Alilu had posted a Facebook video accusing Komaiya of misleading church members with false prosperity teachings. He also referenced activist Omoyele Sowore’s criticism of Nigerian pastors, claiming Komaiya’s teachings were fueling public distrust in Christian leaders.

He warned that if Komaiya and others did not stop such deceptive practices, it could further divide the Christian community.

Komaiya, known for preaching faith and giving as the path to wealth, has faced similar criticism in the past. Despite this, his teachings remain popular within the prosperity gospel movement in Nigeria and Africa.

As of now, neither Komaiya nor his church has responded to the allegations or Alilu’s arrest.
