The All Progressives Congress (APC) has unveiled its governorship candidates in 28 states ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several incumbent governors and prominent political figures securing the party’s tickets through consensus arrangements and primary elections.

A compilation of results from the party’s primaries showed that serving governors, former governors and other top political figures emerged as candidates in states where the exercise had been concluded.

Among those who secured the APC tickets are Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani, Ogun State Senator Solomon Adeola, Lagos State Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat and former Bauchi State Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar.

In Abia State, Eric Opah emerged victorious after polling 126,977 votes to defeat Henry Ikoh, while Jamilu Gwamna clinched the party’s ticket in Gombe State, defeating former Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Prof. Isa Pantami, and former Minister of Transportation, Saidu Ahmed Alkali.

Several governors, including Bassey Otu of Cross River, Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, Umar Namadi of Jigawa, Dikko Radda of Katsina, Nasir Idris of Kebbi and Ahmad Aliyu of Sokoto, secured their tickets through consensus arrangements.

In Lagos State, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat emerged as the APC candidate after polling 657,917 votes, while Senator Sharafadeen Alli secured the party’s ticket in Oyo State.

The party is also awaiting the final declaration of results in states such as Benue, Plateau, Taraba and Yobe, where leading aspirants are reported to be maintaining wide margins.

Meanwhile, APC did not conduct governorship primaries in Anambra, Bayelsa, Edo, Ekiti, Imo, Kogi, Ondo and Osun states due to their off-cycle election schedules.

The emergence of candidates marks a major step in the party’s preparations for the 2027 general elections as political activities continue to gather momentum across the country.
